Feel the pride of Australia
As you roll into Longreach in the heart of Outback Queensland, don’t be surprised if you feel just a tinge of ‘Aussie’ pride. Inside the dedicated Qantas Founders Museum, you’ll uncover many a story linked to the founding of Australia’s national airline that just so happened to grow up in Longreach. Across the road, you’ll spot the shimmering curved roof of another Australian icon. The Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame invites you to take a special journey with a Stockman, artist and Hall of Fame Founder, Hugh Sawrey he will be your personalised guide as you wander through the Long Paddock and across the great travelling stock routes of Australia. You will also experience many other stories from the Indigenous peoples, the cattle barons and flying doctors, the rodeo men, men hardened by the sun, who taught a nation to get back up after being knocked down. Feel the surge of adrenaline as you’re transported full-tilt in a restored Cobb & Co stagecoach along the original Longreach-Windorah mail route.
