Isa Rodeo, World Champions Rodeo Alliance and Virgin Australia offers competitors a ride in the States

The Mount Isa Mines Rodeo has joined forces with the World Champions Rodeo Alliance (WCRA) to give the 2019 Isa Rodeo Champions the chance to compete in the first WCRA event in the United States of 2020 plus Virgin Australia flights to get them from Brisbane to Los Angeles.

Mount Isa Mines Rodeo Chief Executive Officer Ms Natalie Flecker said the initiative with WCRA would provide “Win, You’re In” spots in the first WCRA Semi Finals in the United States of 2020 – timed event competitors (rope and tie, team roping, breakaway roping, ladies barrel race and steer wrestling) and rough stock competitors (bull riding, saddlebronc and bareback riding).

“To be eligible, all our Open finalists will need to nominate and pay a nomination fee before their Finals event begins this weekend,” said Ms Flecker.  “If they win their final, they will win a spot in the WCRA $500,000 Semi-Finals. The Timed Event Semi-Final will be held January 8-12, 2020 at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma. The Rough Stock Cowboys will gain entry to the Lewis Field Bull & Broncs event to be held at the Maverik Centre, Salt Lake City, Utah February 1, 2020 which serves as the WCRA Semi-Final for these competitors.”

“Our relationship with Mount Isa Mines Rodeo continues to evolve in positive ways,” said WCRA Vice President Scott Davis. “We are excited about the Australian athletes whom win Mount Isa having a chance to compete on American soil in 2020.  This is a tremendous opportunity and we thank both Mount Isa Mines Rodeo and Virgin Australia for making it possible.”

Ms Flecker said: “We are grateful to Virgin Australia for their support in helping transport our champions, it is an amazing opportunity to test their skills in the United States and hopefully win some money and some American fans.”

The Isa Rodeo Open competitors will not be required to pay WCRA membership fees.

“Full details will be in the competitor packs available when paying nominations at Mount Isa Mines Rodeo grounds at Buchanan Park,” she said.
