Isa Rodeo art union drives community fundraising

This year’s Mount Isa Mines Rodeo will be a Virtual (online) event, but its famous art union is back to boost fundraising for the local community.

Isa Rodeo Limited Chair Mr Darren Campi said even though the physical rodeo could not be held in August, he was delighted to announce tickets were now on sale for the Isa Rodeo’s famous Art Union.

Mr Campi said the art union represented a two-pronged contribution to the local community by the rodeo firstly purchasing the prizes from local businesses (just under $130,000 annually) and secondly as a fundraiser.

“The rodeo’s art union is one of our major fundraisers, and has helped the event contribute almost $5 million back to local community organisations,” said Mr Campi.

“Only 2,800 tickets will be sold and we believe it’s pretty hard to find an art union with better odds to win prizes worth $129,896.”

The art union’s first prize is a Toyota Landcruiser Wagon 4.5L GXL, second prize is a Toyota C-HR 1.2L (2WD) and third prize is a $3,000 Helloworld travel voucher.

“An art union ticket is $100, and it could be the best $100 you have ever spent,” said Mr Campi, who paid tribute to Bell & Moir Toyota and Helloworld for their long-term support.

Tickets are available online via www.isarodeo.com.au/tickets/art-union.  The winners will be drawn on Sunday, August 9 at 1pm.

The 2020 Mount Isa Mines Virtual Rodeo will be broadcast online from 7 to 9 August, 2020.
