The Isa Experience Gallery is an interactive, multi-media gallery showcasing Mount Isa’s cultural, indigenous, pioneering and mining heritage.

The Outback Park is a two hectare landscaped park showcasing the flora native to the region just behind the centre.

RIVERSLEIGH FOSSIL FIELDS & CENTRE

UNDERGROUND HOSPITAL & MUSEUM

Venture underground at the Mount Isa Underground Hospital & Museum – a fully equipped hospital built in a large air-raid shelter during World War II and the bombing of Darwin.

The museum is located on Joan Street and open during tourist season or by phoning (07) 4743 3853 during the off-season.

LAKE MOONDARRA

Just 15 km north of the City, Lake Moondarra is home to the annual Lake Moondarra Fishing Classic.

Stocked with barramundi permits are not required to fish at Lake Moondarra, but catch limits do apply.

Barbecue and picnic facilities are available.

BOODJAMULLA NATIONAL PARK (FORMERLY KNOWN AS LAWN HILL NATIONAL PARK)

Situated 332km north west of Mount Isa, offers around 20km of walking tracks leading to high peaks and swimming holes.

Facilities include a camping area, tent accommodation and a shop with essential items at Adel’s Grove

SCHOOL OF THE AIR

Mount Isa’s School of the Air is one of seven in Queensland providing education for 280 students from pre-school to year 10.

The school covers an area east from the Northern Territory border to Richmond and south from Burketown to Birdsville.
