If you’ve ever wanted to camp under the stars at the biggest rodeo in the Southern Hemisphere, don’t miss your chance to book a spot at the special “Swag City” at this year’s Xstrata Mount Isa Rotary Rodeo.
This multi-award-winning rodeo will draw the best rodeo competitors and stock in the country, as well as thousands of visitors who will head to the Isa from August 10 to 12.
A special feature at this year’s event will be a fantastic “Swag City” which will be set up on site at Buchanan Park – home of the rodeo – catering for caravans, campervans, tents and those who want to throw down a swag and camp under the stars.
“There will be a communal covered Chill Out area where we’ll provide free tea, coffee, water and gas heaters to keep everyone warm at night,” said Rodeo Manager Tricia Esdaile. “It’s already proving very popular, as well as the reserved seating we’ve introduced for the first time this year.”
The Chill Out area will also host a Bush Poets’ Breakfast on both days of rodeo weekend from 7am to 9am. Enjoy a hot breakfast and tales from the bush for $10.
Ms Esdaile said a limited number of powered and non-powered sites would be available only to people purchasing a three-day pass to the event. Non-powered sites cost $125 for adults, $100 for pensioners and $50 for children aged 7 – 17. Powered sites are $150 per adult, $125 per pensioner and $70 per child (7-17 years), all including a three day rodeo pass. Children under six camp for free.
