Queen Quest presents $100,000 to local charities

The 2015 Isa Rotary Rodeo Queen Quest has presented more than $100,000, the results of this year’s fundraising, to local charities.

Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo Manager Ms Natalie Flecker said 2015 had been a successful year with the combined fundraising efforts achieving a grand total of $101,159.11, including $82,159.11 raised by the four Queen Quest entrants and $19,000 raised for Cootharinga by a charity auction held at the annual Queen Quest ball.

Cheques were presented by the Queen Quest entrants to representatives of their respective charities at a recent function.

Guests included Mount Isa Rotary Rodeo Board Members including Chairman Darren Campi, Queen Quest Director Tracy Pertovt, Kim Kretschmann, Mount Isa Rotary Club past president Karen Krestchmann, South West President Representative Louise Brogden; 2015 Queen Quest co-ordinator Lucy Williams and representatives from Neighbourhood Watch, Buy-A-Bale, Cancer House and Two Little Humming Birds.

Ms Flecker paid tribute to the four quest entrants for their outstanding efforts both fundraising and epresenting the Isa Rodeo as ambassador.

“You have done an outstanding job and we hope you are as proud of your efforts as we are,” said Ms Flecker. “What an amazing contribution the four of you have given not only to your charity but to the Mount Isa community.”

Rodeo Queen Whitney Dickson presented a cheque for $21,367.42 to Zyra Knight and Col Henderson from Neighbourhood Watch.

Charity Queen Sharnee Lloyd presented a cheque for $34,808.47 to Charles Alder from Buy A Bale.

Crystal Smith presented a cheque for $13,200.84 to Patricia Olsen and Frank Lopez from Cancer House Mount Isa.

Alise Stritch to present a cheque for $12,700.82 to Jacque Gillic from Two Little Humming Birds.

A cheque for $19,000 raised at the Queen Quest ball with Robbie Katter as auctioneer was also presented to Nicholas Henningsen from Cootharinga.

“Thank you to our queens, our combined rotary clubs, the generous businesses and individuals who donated or gave up time to assist and of course our Mount Isa Rotary Rodeo Inc (MIRRI) board,” said Ms Flecker.
