Mount Isa’s famous rodeo is renowned for its entertainment outside the arena, with The Wolfe Brothers heading the line-up for this year’s rodeo being held from August 7 to 9.
Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo Manager Ms Natalie Flecker said she was thrilled to announce The Wolfe Brothers would bring their special brand of modern country rock to the rodeo stage.
“They write great songs and they are a brilliant live,” she said. “I think they’ll give a fantastic show for the Saturday night of rodeo weekend.”
The Wolfe Brothers, which consists of two brothers, Nick and Tom Wolfe, and their two best mates, guitarist Brodie Rainbird and drummer Casey Kostiuk, captured national attention when they were voted into second place in the final of Australia’s Got Talent.
The Wolfe Brothers were Golden Guitar finalists at the 2015 Australian Country Music Awards in the Group Of The Year and Song Of The Year categories. The band is also nominated in three categories in the CMC Music Awards being held in Brisbane next month (March 2015).
Ms Flecker said she was also looking forward to welcoming back talented singer-songwriter Mick Lindsay with his fresh blend of country rock and pop as the Friday night act. Mick’s distinctive vocals and high energy guitar have proved a popular hit with rodeo audiences.
According to Mick, “It’s always a rush to kick it with a crowd. I can’t wait to get back in front of a rodeo show, they know how to have fun!”
Mick has been performing and writing in Nashville over the past few years. “We’re really excited to have Mick at rodeo this year.”
Rounding out the line-up is up and coming songstress Caitlyn Shadbolt who will rock the rodeo stage as support act to The Wolfe Brothers on Saturday night (August 8). Since picking up her first guitar and joining her first rock band at 12, 19 year old Caitlyn made it to the top 5 on The X Factor Australia last year.
Ms Flecker said preparations were well underway for the 57th annual Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo, the largest and richest rodeo in the southern hemisphere.
“Our event has three days of international-standard rodeo competition, but we put just as much focus on what’s happening outside the arena for our guests,” said Ms Flecker. Apart from the live concerts, there is a free Friday night family mardigras, sideshow alley, Fred Brophy’s Outback boxing troupe, bush poets breakfast and much more.
Visitors to the 2015 rodeo will also have a new accommodation option – staying in a “Flash Camp”, luxury tented accommodation with well-appointed amenities and relaxed communal areas, close to the rodeo action. The popularity of the rodeo’s Swag City also continues to grow, with three to five day packages available.
