In the 70s you could win a pony, but now you can win Toyota vehicles and travel in the Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo’s annual art union.
Isa Rodeo General Manager Ms Natalie Flecker said the art union was a major fundraiser for the event, which has contributed almost $5 million back to local charities.
Ms Flecker also paid tribute to long term major sponsors Bell & Moir Toyota and third prize sponsor Helloworld. The art union’s first prize is a Toyota Landcruiser Wagon 4.5L GXL, second prize is a Toyota C- HR 1.2L (2WD) and third prize is a $3,000 Helloworld travel voucher.
“We are very grateful for the long term and loyal support of Bell & Moir Toyota as the Toyota vehicles as well as the Helloworld travel vouchers are prizes everyone wants to win,” she said. “The support of our sponsors have enabled the rodeo to raise thousands of dollars to benefit the community.”
Lee and Linda Pulman of Bell & Moir Toyota said they were proud to support the Isa Rodeo, Queen Quest Ball and art union for more than three decades.
“Our motto is locals supporting locals,” said Lee. “The rodeo is Mount Isa, and our icon event and a lot of the money it raises gets put straight back into the local community. One of the reasons the art union is so popular is your odds are so good with only 2,600 tickets sold.”
Ms Flecker said art union tickets were $100 each. Tickets are available from participating businesses, as well as by calling the rodeo office on (07) 4743 2706 or dropping into the office. The winners will be drawn at Buchanan Park on Sunday, August 12 at a time to be confirmed. This year’s Diamond Jubilee 60th Anniversary Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo will be held from August 9 to 12.
