The Mount Isa Mines Rodeo today launched its famous art union which has some of the best odds in the country, according to Chief Executive Ms Natalie Flecker.
“The rodeo’s art union is one of our major fundraisers, and has helped the event contribute almost $5 million back to local community organisations,” said Ms Flecker.
“Only 2,800 tickets will be sold and we believe it’s pretty hard to find an art union with better odds to win prizes worth more than $128,000.”
The art union’s first prize is a Toyota Landcruiser Wagon 4.5L GXL, second prize is a Toyota C- HR 1.2L (2WD) and third prize is a $3,000 Helloworld travel voucher.
Ms Flecker paid tribute to Bell & Moir Toyota and Helloworld for their long-term and loyal support of the art union.
‘Without their valued support, we would not be able to offer such amazing prizes,” she said. “The art union has enabled the rodeo to raise many thousands of dollars to benefit the community.”
Lee and Linda Pulman of Bell & Moir Toyota said they were proud to support the Isa Rodeo, Rodeo Ball and art union for more than three decades.
“Our motto is locals supporting locals,” said Lee. “The rodeo is Mount Isa, and our iconic event and a lot of the money it raises gets put straight back into the local community.”
Ms Flecker said art union tickets were $100 each. Tickets are available online via www.isarodeo.com.au/tickets/art-union. The winners will be drawn at Buchanan Park on Sunday, August 11 straight after the lunch time break. This year’s 60th Year Mount Isa Mines Rodeo will be held from August 8 to 11.
