With a packed program of rodeo events - saddle bronc riding, bareback bronc riding, bull riding, rope & tie, steer wrestling and team roping, ladies barrel racing and ladies breakaway roping - this year's rodeo is set to be the best yet.

During Rodeo Week, Mount Isa's 20,000-strong population swells almost two-fold with travelers coming from throughout the country and overseas to witness the thrills, the excitement, the raw power and courage that is rodeo.

The Mount Isa Rotary Rodeo is the biggest and richest event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.

It is lauded as one of the best in the world and with the sensational lineup of riders and stock there is little wonder why.

It has been more than 50 years since a group of visionary Rotarians decided to "think big" to put Mount Isa on the map.

The result, an event with a past as rich as the prize money it offers.
