Country Music Festival stars in Xstrata Mount Isa Rotary Rodeo entertainment line-up

Bulls and broncs aren’t the only performers heading to the 2010 Xstrata Mount Isa Rotary Rodeo with Golden Guitar winners Catherine Britt, Amber Lawrence and Victoria Baillie, rising star Stephanie Brownlee, and 2008 Australian Idol runner-up Luke Dickens headlining this year’s rodeo entertainment line-up.

The Southern Hemisphere’s largest rodeo event held from Friday, August 6 to Sunday, August 8 at Buchanan Park will feature a Country Music Festival showcasing world-class entertainment from some of Australia’s most acclaimed performers and rising country music stars.

The Irish Club Country Music Festival kicks off on Friday, August 6 from 8pm in the Mardi Gras Precinct with a free concert by Stephanie Brownlee. The 17-year -old starlet will perform songs from her forthcoming debut album including her Top 20 CMC single ‘Keep it Real’ and her latest single ‘Good Friend, Girl Friend’ which was co-written by Miley Cyrus.

The Country Music Festival continues over the rodeo weekend with performances on Saturday and Sunday afternoon from midday in the rodeo forecourt behind the main arena.

The line up includes Catherine Britt, 2009 CMAA Female Artist of the Year; Victoria Baillie, Best New Talent at this year’s CMAA Country Music Awards; Luke Austen, winner of the prestigious Toyota Star Maker competition; award-winning singer-songwriter Amber Lawrence; Shea Fisher; the Rodeo Road Show; and 2008 Australian Idol runner-up Luke Dickens.

Saturday and Sunday Country Music Festival entry is included in the rodeo admission price. Tickets are $30 for adults, $15 for pensioners, $10 for children (seven to 17 years), and children six years and under are free. A Saturday or Sunday family day pass is $70 (two adults and two children).

In the ring, rodeo goers can see the nation’s best compete over three action packed days for a $200,000 prize pool in events such as bull riding, saddle bronc and bareback, steer wrestling, roping, ladies barrel racing and breakaway roping.

Other rodeo events include the Mardi Gras and lantern parade, laser light show spectacle, the opening night “Man Against Beast” competition, side show alley, XXXX Angels and the Fred Brophy Boxing Troupe.
